Think about your favorite season of the year. For my wife, it’s fall. She is fascinated by the renewal of the leaves of each different type of tree near our home. She often says, “I fall in love with the fall season because it inspires me to believe in the hope of renewal.”
With this hope in mind, last month, Los Angeles Portuguese church opened its doors to renew marriage vows for couples in the community.
“It was an excellent opportunity to strengthen friendships, express companionship, and strengthen the bonds of marriage,” said Alexander Salles, pastor of Los Angeles Portuguese church.
The ceremony took place at 11 a.m., and afterward, the couples could exchange gifts and enjoy a delicious lunch.
“It was an incredible moment,” Karol Sandes, an attendee, shared. “I had never experienced anything like it. I didn’t know it was possible to renew the commitments made to each other one day.”
Los Angeles Portuguese church has fulfilled its mission of offering marriage hope through the church’s family ministry. “Marriage is one day at a time, until the last day,” Salles said. “Always resolve to love your spouse at the beginning of each day. Be willing to learn from mistakes made, even if unintentional. In this way, God helps us prevail, and society has stronger couples in Christ.”
